Teachers have given birth to 80000 babies in just five years according to their multibillion medical scheme. Teachers are entitled to received an annual maternity cover of Ksh.100,000 to Ksh.200,000. This is more than the previous maternity cover that was Ksh.75,000.


There are also details where the teacher could have exhausted her maternity cover. In this case, the teacher is added Ksh.15,000 to Ksh.40,000. The regions with the largest birth rate for teachers in Kenya include; Uasin Gishu 12,251, Nakuru 6,991, Nairobi 6,396, Bungoma 4,988, Kiambu 3,783, Meru 3,402, Kisumu 2,975, Kwale 2,128, Kisii 2,119 and Embu 2,070.


Regions with the lowest number of births in the last six years for Kenyan teachers include ; Taita taveta 278, Lamu 266, Kirinyaga 260, Baringo 257, Marsabit 174, Isiolo 100, Wajir 88, Samburu 14, Elgeyo Marakwet 7, West Pokot 5 and Turkana None.


Teachers medical allowance

Previously the medical allowance for teachers in a month was between Ksh.995 and Ksh.4,412. This was however not enough to cover a teachers healthcare and welfare. On the New health cover, the inpatient cover is between Ksh.750,000 and Ksh.2.5 million.
